I really do not understand some peoples love of this film. I just recorded it and watched it for the first time.
I had to think of who my known fanboys are. My neighbor is 22 and my male nieces and nephews are in their late teens They rave about this film.
For me it was a waste of 2 hours. I do love Ron Perlman . Maybe wasn't a total waste because of him.
I not into comic books or comic book characters. Not because they are comic book but because they don't keep my interest.
This isn't the first comic book movie I've disliked.
I do lots of things other 14-25 year olds do like play video games for three days straight without sleeping Lol
I guess I just don't get it. I hated all the Batman films also.

I pretty much don't like anything comic related and find most of those films boring , but I understand why some people like them. For some reason I love his film.I never even knew when I first saw it that it was comic related. I'm in my 40s and female. Just decided to watch it again right now.

Well, ovbiously these films are for kids/teeangers.
Myself i wasn't even remotely interested in Hellboy as the films came out. But i fell in love with Ron Perlman in SoA, so decided to look up Hellboy as well. I liked those films more than initially expected and really hope they make part 3.
Superheroes/comic books/anime stuff it either sticks with you or not, or you need to learn to like them. I don't get Batman or Spiderman either, but totally love X-Men.
Hellboy is slightly different from traditional superheroes, thats what makes him more intergsting

Actually, the love of Comics, Sci-Fi, and anything "Geek" is absolutely nothing new. I am turning 30 in a month, and I love Hellboy. My mother also enjoyed it, in addition to Star Trek, since before I was born (In fact, she also helped start what was at one time called the biggest gaming convention in the US, though it has long since been overshadowed). This trend really picked up speed in the 70's to early 80's, but really turned around and became popular in the 2000's (or at least "Socially Acceptable"). For me, it depends on the comic. A lot of comics are rather Cheesy, and I have found most Marvel films fun, but not particularly deep. Hellboy is quite well written and literate as a comic, and as a film, it has a LOT of heart, which I really do not see very often anymore. Either way, those older groups you re referring to are not new, but in fact probably helped encourage people to look at these things in a new light.

You're not alone in terms of not being intrigued by Comic Books, I'm not either and wasn't back when I was a teenager as well.
It seems that today's Comic-Cinema genre comprises of a much larger demographic than just 14-25 year old males. You have both men and women well into their 50s engaging in Cosplay and quoting lines from The Avengers, Dark Knight, or the first Star Trek TV series.
