What's up with that ending ? Can anyone explain please ? Is it that evil triumphs and all of the worlds best fighters have died ? including Raiden at the end ?

There are so many other alternatives to the dreaded "it was all a dream" scenario that was rumored to begin in season two.
I just watched all 22 episodes online and I still believe that the show can be continued with the right writers and a better budget. MK9, MK:Legacy webisodes and the new Mortal Kombat 2013 Warner Bros film are sure to reignite peoples' interest in the franchise. Even though it's been 14 years since MKC every story can be extended. Personally, I'd be happy with a straight to DVD 2 hour conclusion to the MKC series that ties up the loose ends between MKC and the first MK film.

I could've lived with it if they killed off Kung Lao, Taj, Siro and Raiden escapes or something, no problem. But to leave it like that with Shang Tsung dead and all the other bad guys was just confusing as heck.
Too bad, I wanted to see Goro and Shang Tsung as an old guy.

I kinda liked the ending. Evil won, rarely that happens in a non-horror show/movie. But I would liked it to continue, obviously.

NO! "it was all a dream" is the oldest and weakest twist of all time
if you use the "dream sequence" ending you have failed as a storyteller
(even if you make it so that they have an item from the dream in their bed, seen / read that a few times that's not cool either)

Both the dream idea and the Elder Gods undoing everything are stupid. If you pay attention to the finale, we never actually see anyone die, with the exception of Reptile, who can be much more than one man. We see the shadow priests attack Shang Tsung, Kitana, Kung Lao, Taj and Siro but we don't actually see them dead. Instead, it cuts away to the next scene. We see Shao Kahn talking to a captured Raiden, saying all those people are dead but really, how can he even confirm that? He can't enter Earthrealm, after all. I think that in the second season premiere, we would have seen that most of them survived the attacks. We already know that Tsung, Lao & Kitana are alive and well past that point.
Sorry, running out of witty sigs.

Such a crap ending to a GREAT Series Seriously i just been watching it all, and honestly i tought it had way better fights than the movies and overall it was good, until that crappy ending I didn't had a problem with Kung Lao dying, but at the end of Goro not that stupid way

A dream sequence is better. Having the elder gods just return everything back to normal with a snap of their fingers is ridiculous.

A dream?
Would have been too 'Dallas' for me. Prefer Rayden breaking out of Outworld, dodging Kahn and his warriors who want to prevent him from reaching the Elder gods and pointing out Kahn's rule breaking. Rayden suceeds after some fights with maybe a shokan and centurion (introducing these creatures, showing their rivalry all while making an adventure fit for our thunder god). That's how I'd have liked season 2 to start.

I think the idea of a nightmare is better. Someone else had mentioned that it could all be a dream that Kung Lao has. Since his visions have becoming worse and worse it culminates with that last episode of season 1. I'm thinking if there was a season 2 it would be revealed that it was all a horrible nightmare to get Kung Lao back on track.

I find that cool. Have you also noticed that the last image of the MK medallion appears to have a golden shine to it before it fades to black. What if this heralds in the coming of the Elder Gods who come to restore order just like they did in MK2:ANNHILATION.

I'm sure it would have been a little more indepth than that
But it seems funny that they give this huge cliffhanger ending, then they go, "Ok, Elder Gods undo it all" and poof, there it is.
But yeah, seeing Goro again would have rocked.

Yes, at the end all of those characters died - including Kung Lao, Taja, Siro, Vorpax, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Siann, Omegis, Reptile, Kiri, and Kitana. We are left not knowing if Rayden still lives or not. Kahn may be keeping him alive to torture him. The series ends with Outworld and Earth merging and Kahn's extermination squads beginning to scour the planet. Of course, this was not intended to be the end, it was just a season finale cliffhanger like every other show. Unfortunately it got cancelled and we were stuck dangling over the cliff. The official MK website gave a brief idea of how season 2 would have started. It said that Rayden was still alive in Kahn's dungeon, praying to the Elder Gods, asking them why they have allowed this to happen. The Elder Gods then decide to undo everything Shao Kahn had done in breaking their rules. They bring everyone back to life and return them to where they belong - Shang and Vorpax in the cobalt mines, Reptile and Kiri to Zaterra, Kung Lao, Taja, and Siro back to Earth and so on. Thus, season 2 would begin and the show would go back to normal.
The show was a prequel to the movie, and thus it was always intended that the bad guys would win in the end, therby setting up the final tournament in the movie. Unfortunately, we did not get to see the ending that was intended, had the show continued. Any MK fan knows that Kung Lao is killed by Goro in the next tournament. That is why throughout the show, Lao has visions of his own death at the hands of a four-armed monster. This was intended to be the true ending to the series, Goro killing Kung Lao and starting his 500 year run as champion. Its a damn shame we did not get to see that.
