I hadn't.
And I watched it recently and couldn't believe how similar it was to Gladiator. I knew that Ridley Scott 'took inspiration' from those old movies. But in some places it almost felt like a remake.

I tried for 3 years to get my girlfriend to watch Spartacus but she resisted as she had stereotypical views on "boy's films" like that.
I finally convinced her to give it a go and at the end of the film she was in floods of tears and I don't just mean a few sniffs, I mean actual bawling and gushing.
It's now her favourite film of all time.

I finally got around to watching Spartacus about a year or two ago, I should've watched it in the 80s or 90s but never got around to it. I gotta say I wasn't that impressed, it was cool and all but I don't see why it's considered so great. Maybe it was at the time but it's one I'm glad I finally got around to watching but it's also one I will never watch again. I'd rather watch Ben Hur again or The Ten Commandments.

Possibly true, but if Gladiator was a remake of Spartacus, it was a damn good one.
Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!
