We were debating about this. Or I was. Anyway, here is the report. This should be right up your conservative alley..
National debt disappears as 2020 campaign issue – but it keeps growing
Almost a decade after out-of-control spending and borrowing fueled the Tea Party revolution in a historic midterm election, no major presidential candidates from either party seem interested in the national debt that now stands at more than $23 trillion, leaving every American citizen owing almost $70,000.
Meanwhile, the federal deficit—or the annual budget shortfall—is more than $1 trillion.
“Democrats don’t care about budget deficits and the national debt, and it’s an incredibly frightening problem,” said Jason Pye, vice president for legislative affairs at FreedomWorks, a major player in rallying the Tea Party movement of the 2010 election. “The president has said it’s a fifth-year priority, but that’s assuming he’s re-elected. He’s already signed two budgets that increase discretionary spending. Republicans have abandoned any pretense of fiscal responsibility. Not being the Democrats is not good enough.”

Oh yeah, both parties have completely ignored the national debt for so long, we're going to be ****ed eventually.

I'll agree that Obama was handed a tough hand created by Clinton and Bush, but there's no excuse to add more to the debt than any other president combined. The type of mental gymnastics you are doing to justify it shows this is strictly partisan and team politics.
I will agree with you though that Trump is signing too many of these terrible spending bills.

Obama's party affiliation has nothing to do with it. He was dealt a bad hand by the previous president. I don't think there is any rational person that would deny that. No matter who was president during that time, from any party, would have seen large deficit spending. Even while he was fighting this economy in crisis, Barack still managed to lower the deficit considerably throughout his presidency, which is the right direction. Again, I don't think there is any rational person that would deny that. Trump by contrast, has the deficit heading in the wrong direction. Trump is running a higher deficit than the one he was handed by his predecessor, something Barack Obama never did. The current deficit is now higher than at any point since the height of the financial crises. If you want to get upset, get upset at Trump, who actually promised to eliminate the debt. If he continues on the pace he is on, he will have added more to the debt than Obama, and without a worldwide economic crisis to have dealt with.

Ah of course, the man added more to the national debt than all the other presidents combined, but he's a Democrat so it isn't his fault. You clowns never take responsibility for anything.

I didn't ignore Obama intentionally, but the truth is the increase in the national debt under Obama was mostly due to the spending he inherited from Bush. Obama's deficits never approached Bush's heights, and Obama actually decreased the deficit dramatically, getting the trend back on the right track. Bush on the other hand was handed a surplus by Clinton and turned it into massive deficits. Clinton was the last president who managed to balance the budget. Trump has thus far increased the deficit each year of his presidency, despite running on a promise to balance the budget.

I like how you conveniently chose not to mention Obama's insane spending.

Both parties have ignored the national debt for decades. It began to skyrocket under Reagan and has only increased its acceleration since. Republicans used to make more of a deal about it, but when George W. Bush came to office and was a massive spender, they began to ignore it. Dick Cheney famously said "Deficits don't matter."
