PG means "parental guidance", PG movies are not intended for children. That would be G rated movies, which you don't see much of these days.

Which would also exclude every comedy made before 1968. In my opinion (and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this), funny movies aren't limited to the PG rating. I never said anything about children not being able to watch the ones I mentioned, just that they were funny.
Crocodile Dundee, Mr. Bean's Holiday, and the Grumpy Old Men movies were good, too.

National Lampoon's Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Guardians of the Galaxy, There's Something About Mary, Men in Black, The Mask, The Big Lebowski, Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, Raising Arizona, This is Spinal Tap, Tropic Thunder, Best in Show, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Tootsie, the Naked Gun series, Happy Gilmore, Blazing Saddles, Forrest Gump, Moonstruck, Mrs. Doubtfire, Wedding Crashers, Revenge of the Nerds, City Slickers, Animal House, Bruce Almighty, Austin Powers, Beverly Hills Cop, The Burbs, Caddyshack, Porky's, Stripes, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Good Morning, Vietnam, Coming to America, the Lethal Weapon series, The Avengers but to each their own.

I see what you mean though. But theirs alot of kids films out there that isn't totally stupid. Late 90s early 2000s were like the last days where films could be rated pg and still feel like it's not for kids. You won't see it much now so theirs that

You are so right. Except for one of the films he mentioned, they all were released AFTER the addition of PG13. Such a good call. You sure showed him for trying to point out the folly of saying all PG films are unappealing family fare that adults can't enjoy.

Due to changing standards (and lack of the rating before 1984) a lot of the 70s and 80s ones would be PG-13 now.
