Episode of "The Outer Limits" (1995) called Promised Land (season 4 episode 21) is pretty much a sequel to this story, although BE came out later. The episode follows a group of human ex-slaves, who find an alien farm and try to take it over from the alien family inside. Ren Auberjonois (Odo from ST:DS9) plays the head of the alien family. I'd say it's not that bad of an episode (although it's very predictable) but check it out for yourself, either way.
