<p dir="auto">I think its a great idea. If people had opiates that can be bought over the counter, they won't move onto heroin, where most of it is full of fentanyl and other **** which makes it possible to overdose.</p>

<p dir="auto">People have overdosed on opiates for centuries. Not just heroin or fentanyl are lethal. People overdose on methadone even.<br />

<p dir="auto">Not all cases, but yes, in some cases this is absolutely correct.<br />
Things like chronic pain are severely misunderstood, and people are so focused on taking away pain relief that they're lumping in legitimate patients who are responsible, with people who chew on tampered fentanyl patches or buy tainted heroin on the street out of desperation.  Another option is becoming alcoholic to numb the pain (and all that comes with alcoholism).<br />
This is underfunded, understudied, and misunderstood.<br />
