It takes 6-9 months to make one episode (well before everything became computerized) but I think they overlap all of them or a few of them to save time. They may record a bunch of lines from different episodes in one day.
I just want to know when season 2 and 3 were made. Season 2 got picked up at the end of August 1999 but did they start working on the episodes around Christmas 1999/January 2000? It premiered in late October. It takes a while to pitch ideas and write the scripts.
Season 3 got picked up in fall 2000 so I guess the episodes were being made from about late November 2000 to around summer 2001? The last one produced for season 3 happened to air in October 2001. By production code.
I saw a storyboard on a Spongebob Wiki site from F.U.N. and it was dated March 9th 1999 and it aired 6 months later.
