This show remind me the storyline of xena warrior princess
All they did was switch the roles around with Young mens traveling around fighting evil.
But the same line and romance are there between the two actors in the show i just realize that.

Actually the Beastmaster movies were around before Xena or Hercules, it's a "spin-off" of those. Coincidently, the character "Dartanus", played by Marc Singer, as Dar's guide& once a bodyguard to Dar's father, King Eldar& who shows up in season 3, is the original Beastmaster from the movies.
So perhaps this is where the Herc/Xena creators got their inspiration.
