I like the premise. It's far-fetched, but creating a society with no feelings, where not conforming with the state is an instant death sentence and where animals are banned from society and human ownership it's a society that the hard-left (third wave feminists and social justice warriors and the like) and organizations like PETA would probably love to create.
They'd need to remove all the beep martial arts and give it a decent budget, but it could be an excellent sci-fi movie.

It's far-fetched,
Societies like the one depicted, sans the drug requirement, do exist.
They'd need to remove all the beep martial arts and give it a decent budget, but it could be an excellent sci-fi movie.
It doesn't need to be remade. The budget was sufficient. We see twentieth century automobiles in the film, and yet it makes sense because stagnant manufacturing innovation is a characteristic of far left wing countries. What I didn't like was how it felt a little rushed toward the end perhaps rushed overall. It has protagonist wish-fulfillment elements, but that's kind of normal for a lot of films.

This didn't seem very leftist, btw. Supreme martial law, totalitarian government and the slaughter of those with different beliefs doesn't seem like a leftist agenda.
It's interesting that you saw that in the film, which probably tells volumes about yourself, I mean when has PETA or feminists called for the slaughter of pets or art or music or emotion?

No remake needed. This movie is perfect.
A bright light can hollow the deepest of nothingness.

There is no need for a remake. The original just needs to be better known.
It's that man again!!
