I remember renting this shortly after it came out and not thinking it would be good but was blown away. Watched it what 10 years later now or more tonight on Netflix? It still holds up and is still great love this movie.

I appreciated the designs including the sets/Brutalist architecture alone - beautifully dystopic and paired well with the character's stark emotional landscape.

I'm not getting all the hate for the director. There's a reason this movie is a cult classic and:
It's not the premise. Everyone complains how unoriginal it is.
It's not the fight choreography. People either think it's ridiculous or love it but it doesn't make a movie great.
It's not the acting.
So, for me at least, it's the sum of its parts. It's the way the film is presented and shot. No matter how ridiculous or unoriginal it may be it always takes itself seriously and never sways into parody. I think under almost any other director this wouldn't be half the film it is.

I love this movie, but I agree. A better director would have taken this film to a whole other level.

Agreed, a pretty good movie with a lot of great moments and with a good cast.
If it had had a better director it could have been a masterpiece.

This movie was terrible. Just watched it. People without emotions showing emotion and getting angry.
50 people shooting auto at one person can hit him for 2 minutes.
You can't back flip faster than s
A bullet, emotions or not.
