It is apparent that after sifting through posts on this board, many blithering idiots complain about nudity/sex/graphic-ness (for want of a better word) of this film.
It is an 18 and is to be watched by adults. And there is a CUT and an UNCUT version. I recommend for future reference if you are easily offended by normal human behaviour being represented on films, watch the cut version.
Similarly, you must remember, THIS IS A FILM. You are watching a form of expression, language, art, call it what you want. It is merely showing a representation of human activities and the film makers feel it is imperitive for the storyline, which I agree with.

Every time I see something written or talked about with this film I just wait for them to go on about all the sex in it and only focus on that. It aggravates me every time haha, because I feel like people are missing the point and the other great stuff in the movie. You shouldn't ignore the sex in the film, it's one of its biggest themes after all, but people certainly seem to concentrate too much on it being, "salacious," or some such crap like that.
The film has, what? 5 actual sex scenes and I'd say all, but the last aren't good ones in terms of being anything remotely sexy because all the others are conveying to you how inexperienced and full of sh!t the boys are with the final one showing a bit of what they've learned along the way. They aren't there for gratuity or cheapness, they have a reason to them and serve the narrative, there's nothing lurid to me about that.
The movie has much more going for it besides two dudes that kiss each other, ya know? And yet that's mostly what it seems to have become known for, which whatever, if that's what gets the eyeballs (and I don't blame them, of course), but it's just like get over it already.or go watch a Disney movie
p.s. I always forget there is a cut and uncut version. Can anyone tell me what's in the uncut because I'm not sure if that's the one I've seen or not. I watch this off of Netflix and I tried looking it up, but can't seem to find anything detailing what the cut version actually cut.

They actually DID bother me, and I think that was part of the point. Cuaron didn't want to sugarcoat anything he wanted the audience to feel what the characters felt, and get caught up in the insane passion of being young and dumb. The sex scenes had that effect on me. At the same time as I felt a little weird watching those scenes, part of me got caught up in it. It reminded me of what it was like to be a teenager myself, when sex was this brand new glorious experience that dwarfed all of life in comparison.

I can never understand the lurid and somewhat hysterical attention paid to any nudity or sex in films. So she has sex with both of them? So they kiss and have sex with one another? Big deal. In the meantime other important themes and features in the film pass without comment.

I wasn't offended so much as I was simply bored. The first hour+ of the movie establishes that they are horny teenagers who don't have the sexual prowess the think they do I think this could have been well communicated in at least half that time. I found this part of the film (i.e. most of the film) interminable and I nearly stopped watching.

Way too much space is wasted on comments that go like "Watching this made me uncomfortable ". Movies, expecially "R" rated ones, provoke emotions.
I agree completely. Not only was the sex completely realistic, it also was not gratuitous. No, the film isn't appropriate for everyone, but that's what ratings are for.
I think some people need to grow up and chill out - it's not the 1950s anymore, and a threeway isn't going to hurt anyone. We've all been there. It's just sex!

I'm 17 and wasn't bothered at all. In fact, I am glad the nudity and sex was done so naturalistic instead of feeling staged. It made the movie feel all the more real. Hollywood often paints pictures of how sex is, and it isn't usually how it is depicted. I credit the film for being frank, but not overly gratuitous. The sex wasn't used to be arousing, but rather to add to the story. In fact, besides for the voice-overs (which I feel didn't work so well), this was a fantastic movie! 8/10

yep, I realize I made a mistake when I said 'North America and Northern Europe are different' but I didnt mean to say they are the same.
in America explicit nudity and sex is still a taboo, in Scandinavia it is quite normal, pure and artistic and in latin countries it is faced as dirty/hot and necessary to keep the audience in whatever show: films, telenovelas, theatres, reality shows and tons of shows that are only about sex.
I find it just a tad stupid to use sex as a way to sell everything. it's like they think everybody's a hormone-bursting teenage boy, which judging by the results of the audiences, they are right
maybe someday we can progress and accept nudity as normal and not as solely sex-orientated.

Scandinavian countries, and Germany, have basically no censorship, so saying northern Europe and North America share the same idea and opinions regarding sex on TV/in films is wrong. We're way more open to it in northern Europe (except the UK perhaps), I would even say we're more open to it than southern Europe and Latin America. In Scandinavia we show full nudity on live television and in films, naked children, sex, cussing, etc. We don't censor anything, ever.. and we don't get offended by mature content either. Just saying.
