Instead of the original ending, [spoiler]of the son getting the heart before Denzel goes through with his surgery and then being arrested and all of that stuff, i feel like the movie should've gone with the "anti-hollywood" ending of everybody living happily ever after, and ended it as Denzel actually undergoing the surgery before his wife can alert him of the donor heart. yes, it would maybe seem unnecessary but i feel like it would have been much more powerful and intense and upsetting that he was so close to not having to die for his son, but it was just too late and he made the ultimate sacrifice when he still believed he had to. Any thoughts? P.S: Sorry for all the spoiler tags but i didnt want to ruin it at all for anyone.

I kept predicting that John Q. had killed himself and his heart was given to his son, but the operation was a failure and somehow the boy's body rejects the heart, and they both die.
I guess the filmmakers just have to settle for a typical Hollywood sheeeet ending in accordance with the rest of the sheeeeet story.
The story seemed to be promising. It's terribly disappointing.
If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.
