I watched Badlands couple yrs back, before the series, which I have been doing today in
one sitting. So, I have been waiting for the big reveal as to how and why they are where they are.
Early on it was hinted on how they came to be on 'this p;anet' by some old codger, and there were minor hints about this different place.
I guess the episode with Priest and Vash going underground and into the machine and Vash being able to destroy bots and turn off the main computer were hitting on his 'specialness' despite his superhuman abilities apparent through the first 13 episodes.
Episode 16 really threw the spanner in the works revealing a moon that was way closer to the planet than our own moon to earth. I actually thought when the light 'beam' hit the skyline that it was a dome over the civilized area and somehow he had cracked it. But putting a crater into the moon was awesome.
Okay so, back to Ep. 17.
I did not see it coming. Now I say that because I don't and didn't read any reviews and blurbs or other opinions about the show as having watched Badlands made me fall in love with the amazing landscape and art and the machinery in the show. So, I didn't know the background or story behind the characters, especially as to how they got to the planet.
I am so pleased I decided to watch the series today we have just had a national election here in New Zealand this weekend and our beep National Party which is led by the most disgusting human alive has pulled a George W Bush and got himself in as Prime MInister once again for the next 3yrs, and so I have been feeling really down, and watching Trigun today just made me feel a whole lot better.
Oh, for you 'fans of anime (I have like over 2 hundred or so different anime titles, who say that Trigun is over-rated just go watch something else and stop trying to put people of watching and making up their own minds.
Trigun is a smart funny tongue in check western come sci-fi much like Firefly and deserves to be in the top 20 if not Top 10 of all time greatest anime.
