Does anyone know if 50 shades of grey was partly inspired by The Piano Teacher? Haven't seen 50 shades of grey, since it looks like cinematic garbarge but having read about the plot and seen the trailer it reminds me of the Piano Teacher.

LOL no, there is literally no similarity or connection between the two films at all. The Piano Teacher is a great (if harsh) movie and 50 Shades is a steaming pile of sh!te
