I'd love to see it sometime. I realize its importance. It couldn't be any sillier than A Very Natural Thing. I realize, though, that they were trying to do something a bit profound for the time. Saturday Night at the Baths!!! LOL I'll meet you there Rob Chadwick!

Okay, so now be honest How TERRIBLE is it?
Well, it depends on how you look at it. It's great to look back on that time and see how things were back then. Much of the film was actually done in the baths; and I suppose I didn't know that the baths also had a bar/disco with entertainers. I always assumed the baths were just a place to go to have quickies, etc. (I confess that I've never actually been to a bath house.)
From a technical standpoint, they did the best they could transferring the only surviving copy of the film to DVD. It's certainly not up to today's standard for DVD quality; but it's OK. It's easy to watch much like a video tape at low quality/ high capacity.
As for the story, it's cute. The lead guy's hair and clothing are definitely of the period. He is cute; and I'm sure a lot of guys have experienced what he does. It does seem like he goes from totally straight to his first encounter with not enough difficulty; but I bet that happens since so much is played out in the heads of guys like him before anything actually occurs. The other lead character actually plays himself; he was actually the entertainment director at the bath house evidently.
For me, it's nice to have. I'll watch it every couple of years just for nostalgia. (Can something be nostgalgia if you never experienced it?
)

It was released Tuesday on DVD. I just got my copy from Amazon in today's mail. The DVD cover says it was transferred from the only known surviving copy of the original film. How neat! I'm going to watch it tonight. (I have not seen it before.)
