A criminally under-seen horror thriller (another topic discussed in this releases supplementsUSA Films inability to understand what film they had and how to market it), this blu-ray release from Shout! Factory is the perfect reason to acquaint or reacquaint yourself with one of the best horror films to come out of the 2000s. Dont look at the cover and dismiss it as just another haunted house kind of film, because its not that whatsoever. Owing more to The Shining and Dont Look Now rather than Paranormal Activity or Grave Encounters, Session 9 is old-school, slow-burn kind of horror, made for (gaspand starring) adults experiencing their own kind of horrorand more than just the obvious.

i was having trouble deciding also because of the lack of features and the track record scream factory has w screwing things up, but to say the least, yes this is one of their best releases of the year.
I've gotten pretty sick of 2k scans of the ip neg. who the hell does that?? scream factory i guess??
have you seen the dog soldiers bluray? lmfao
but session 9 is a solid upgrade for sure from the dvd. it drives me nuts when they release a serpent in the rainbow collectors edition w barely any features and a pretty awful transfer, then a non collectors edition of session 9 with more bonus features and a pristine transfer.
idk what to think of them anymore and they have some great titles coming out this fall/winter. not too mention i already got an email that the thing has been delayed a month because the audio tracks are f'd up lolz.
Edit: raising cain came today and scream did a great job with it. so hopefully the thing is fixed and there are no problems with the fall lineup.

I'm not a big nerd for film releases but the Blu-ray looks and sounds great. I usually watch this movie 3 to 4 times a year on DVD, I've even seen an HD airing on TV so I feel an authority on saying how good this new release makes the film look over the other times I've seen it. If you are a big fan like me, it's worth the upgrade.
