For a very similar effect to Cuthbert's appearance in The Girl Next Door, see Amy Locane in 'Carried Away' with Dennis Hopper as the older man she seduces and torments. Her performance has a great advantage over Cuthbert's in that Locane actually appears nude several times. Cuthbert just teases (and before you flame me, recall that she's playing a porn star).
But when it comes to stunning, you'd better know your film history before throwing a bunch of superlatives around. Those screen goddesses of the 30s and 40s with the glorious black and white photography, incomparable lighting, and expert direction are hard to beat. Watch some films with Hedy Lamar or a young Lana Turner and then talk to me about "stunning." Watch Rita Hayworth in Gilda and then answer the question posed by this thread.
One of the most underrated films for the sheer sexual power of the actresses is the 1941 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Spencer Tracy in the title roles and Lana Turner and Ingrid Bergman as the damsels in distress. Oh my god.

The cool phenomenon here is that it isn't just the actress' looks, it is a combination of her looks, the character, the movie itself and also your own age or situation when you fist saw the movie.
Really well said. But shhhhh. We don't want women to think that we're all not shallow. LOL.
The first movie ever to do that for me was "Rear Window", and Grace Kelly. I can still close my eyes and see her.
But then there was Jessica Lange in "King Kong". Oh my gosh.

This is a great thread! Everyone has one or more of these movies, where you just fall completely in love with an actress. The cool phenomenon here is that it isn't just the actress' looks, it is a combination of her looks, the character, the movie itself and also your own age or situation when you fist saw the movie. I think it is so fascinating how you can watch an actress in one particular role and you just know that right there, she is the most beautiful woman in the world.
Elisha Cuthbert in this movie is definetly up there, but for me, the two that really stand out are Jennifer Love Hewitt in "Heartbreakers" and Thandie Newton in Mission: Impossible 2". Two rather bland movies that will forever hold a place in my heart because I fall in love over and over again when I see them
"My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle"

So many great ones named already that I can't even concentrate but I have to throw out the one that I noticed missing
Rosario Dawson in Clerks 2. Not a big fan of hers and never really noticed her beauty before it but maybe it was the great character she played so well with her gorgeous smile.
And Kate Beckinsale as Ava Gardner in The Aviator. The way they classed/glammed her up really brought out her beauty instead of just a hot body like Underworld.
