Sure, Matt was in a lot of trouble for lying about Kelly being his adviser, but Jeannie definitely messed up by not asking for ID! That was really stupid of her. And I know Matt was mainly blaming her to scare her into not talking to the bank manager, but he was right! If she did take this up with the manager, she definitely
would
have lost her job (or at least been in some serious trouble)! What kind of bank teller doesn't ask for ID???
Just saying

The adult film industry is never made to be taken seriously because of how they make their living. What they do is nasty, twisted & degrading. For a kid with a future, his involvement with the adult film industry would have killed his high school education, his college education, his reputation & career, and his relationship with his parents.
Talk about the difference between a scholar kid on his way up or a high school dropout who will end up making $7 an hour & highly possible his relationship with Danielle would have blew up eventually.
That's the thing about the porn industry. Most of those folks have been doing things unspeakable, brainwashed some of them, many so sticking rich they don't care who judges them, their lives are tarnished to the point it's not important if someone knows. Some of them are so dead in the head they don't know if someone judges them or looks poorly on their lifestyle.
Matt's drilled with "I'm going to be somebody" and "my life with a girl with a dirty past is going to come out" and "I'll be publicly humiliated and never fulfill my dreams."
When your record is so clean, you have a lot to lose if people know who you are or who you hang with.

Found out what?
That he was dating a porn star and met her director? lol everyone at the school knew she was in porn anyway. And nobody could prove him taking ex.
It's not like he shot 5 people and buried them prior to the bank incident.

It was Jeanie's fault and if everything else was on the up and up Matt would have followed on and had her fired.
The problem is that Matt is smarter than you give him credit for. He knew that if he did it the "right way" then everything he did would come out in the open. If I were 18 I would have done the wrong thing and told on her as I might not have thought as far ahead as Matt did.

This was the #1 most unbelievable scene in this move for me (followed closely by the clapping for the "moral fiber" speech) in a movie that is chuck full of unbelievable scenes.
At 18 years old, I absolutely knew how banks worked and who had access to the money in my account. I knew this because I wasn't a complete idiot.
The idea that a high school senior, who was supposed to be brilliant and on his way to being the next JFK, doesn't know that Jeannie from the bank can't give out his $25,000 to some random jerk-off in a shiny suit without id asks me to stretch my imagination too far.
And Jeannie from the bank was faking the whole "going to get the manager" part, right? Or did she really think she could just hand out $25,000 because Matt said he knew the jerk-off in the shiny suit? Wow. I just don't know what to think here.

Haha I yelled at the screen too! Especially after the part where she says to him "Now you have to worry about ending up in jail if the money's not here by monday" (or something) and he starts freaking out. What? Why would he go to jail if she's the one who gave away $25,000? What would he even go to jail for- telling her Kelly was his advisor when he wasnt?

Yeah I remember watching that scene and thinking the same thing, hell I think I even yelled at the screen, "What?, It's your fault bitch!", lol
~What if this is as good as it gets!~

More than that, Kelly would have to have filled out a sigature card in Matt's presence even to have access. Jeanie would not only have been fired, but probably investigated to see if there was collusion.

Yep.
The crap she fed Matt was bogus, but completely believable. If you were 18 years old with the limited life experience you would've had, you'd probably believe her.
However, if he'd gone to his parents and told the situation, the bank would by law be required to refund the money which would certainly result in Jeanie being fired.
At my age today I would've been like, "LOL Okay so I'm just going to pose as some random person and ask for money - and you're too f'ing stupid to ask for ID so can we just assume I can have a suitcase of $20s?"
But at 18 I would've probably been like, "OH MAN! This is my fault!"
It's easy for adults to flip the tables on you, similar to how Kelly did with Matt several times in the movie. Matt could've just called assault when Kelly came to class and landed Kelly in jail easily - negating the whole issue.
