The fundamental problem is that the movie sets up a story, but can't follow through. There is no way that Muir can save Bishop on his final day

Muir explains this with the Noah and the Ark analogy. He had connections and money, and also made sure that the CIA did not not know about all his playing cards, i.e., the CIA never knew that all his wives were fake; they thought they kept on leaving him because of his wok and lack of social graces. The only weak part in this plan was in the financial aspect, as I think that a transfer that big would take longer, but in terms of all the other cards he plays to rescue Bishop, it was presented well.
If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

It's a movie, it's entertainment. Did you want a documentary?
I believed most of it, but not the line where Muir arranges for Hadley to be abducted and "flown to China". Even in war-torn Lebanon, border security at the airport would be strict. Far more likely she is taken to the port and smuggled onto a Chinese cargo ship and then endures a horrific voyage. see the Elizabeth-Hadley-Bishop thread.

it's a whole lot harder to shine. than undermine.
