Are we to assume that she is retired and had a good retirement fund? It seems she has quite a nice house and doesn't work, so I was wondering if we were ever told where her money comes from?

In season 2 Ep 8 in Kath's flashback about her old husband (Kim's dad). He says something about the house being in Kath's name so "they" can't touch it. Whoever "they" are.
So Kath got a house when her first husband left and I'm guessing she sold it at some point and bought the townhouse?
