Absolutely. They remind me so much of my Victorian relatives and my cousin's wife could be the very person Kath modelled herself on. I usually cringe when I meet my cousins (as nice as they are) as they look like they are all inbred. I'm not joking. WA really should break away from the rest of the country.

Haha sometimes my grandmother says "Amblience" instead of "Ambulance" and my old maths teacher (who is a male) used to say, "Year NOINE, PLOISE be QUIOT!" lol.
So yeah, occasionally I hear a few people say a few things like Kath and Kim but it's not excessive.

Everyone i know from Victoria speaks like them, and the show is set in Victoria

It's an exagerrated accent, and though there are people who talk like that, not many people my age do. (I'm 17) but I think that's part of why it's so funny

I have certainly heard shopkeeps in Brighton talk like Prue and True - it cracked me up!
As for K & K - I trust it is an exageration of the aspirational classes - but heck, maybe it's not! LOL

the show is funny because it's so over exagerrated..if people actually talked like that..then it would be as funny as the show
whoever is saying people talk like that hereumm where do you live??? damnn lol

Perfect example: Julian Gillard, our Deputy Prime Minister. She sounds like she walked straight off the set.
I used to tutor a young high school kid who sounded just like them too.
I find its usually people who come from lower working class backgrounds, but who have educated themselves and worked their way into the middle class. They have a sort of hybrid accent, or they're forcing it.

I agree with all of the above. If you grab all of the `aspirational' Aussies - i.e. the wannabe-upwardly-mobiles-from-the-working-class-swamps - and put them together in one show, you'd get K & K.
Many of us think like these people do, but edit our thoughts before speaking.

Though it is meant to be an exaggeration of the nasal twang of the suburban "aspirational" Australian, you can hear plenty of people talking just like that at my local shopping mall in western Sydney.

Australia has it's regional accents, and this is one of them for sure.
