Just shut the movie off! Honestly, the movie just goes to sh!t after the awesome opening. Hell, even the classic WB logo and smooth singing of Francesca really set the tone for a sophisticated opening, but once the camera whip-zoomed MTV style to show the cable unraveling, I knew the movie was going to be silly. When the wire cut through all those people, it was great! I still think that scene holds up well today mostly for one simple reason: Minimal CGI! It was all mostly practical and most movies today wouldn't have taken the time, nor effort to make something like that today. But after that opening scene and the camera tilts down to the blackness of the ocean, I always turn it off because it doesn't get any better from there. Am I the only one?
