Yeah her "acting" was terrible. I don't think it ruined the film (I still think the movie is great, for the most part) but it definitely ruined Frank's death scene. Once I saw the film in a class on my course and people laughed at her line delivery.
Considering she hasn't acted since this film (she only appeared in one other film before this one) I guess acting wasn't her thing.
I never knew she was in a goth band but it seems to be going well for her and I wish her luck.

If I'm being generous I'd say she was trying to create a character who was traumatised from what she'd seen so was withdrawing. But yes, it is really distracting how flat she is, and surprised a director as good as Boyle didn't do something about it

Rewatched 28 days and 28 weeks back to back this evening, I think it is less her acting and more her weird accent, trying to work out what it was supposed to be did distract me somewhat!
I did wonder if she could possibly have been the best actress they auditioned??

She was pretty wooden now that I think of it, but I hadn't thought of it until seeing this thread. Yeah, they could have cast someone better, but she didn't ruin the film by any means. She only had a small part.

The fact that all of these people that are dissing on her are stroking their Oscars or Emmy waitthey are just stroking something else. No she is isn't very good but it is better then anything these morons could produce.

I dont think she ruined the film at all and her acting wasn't that bad either, perhaps she realised the role should have been played like that - 'the world has gone to beep and she's over it after 4 weeks of seeing death and the collapse of society' not all roles can be played like american scream queens crying and shouting and taking everything like a hammer to the head.
I did notice and now always notice that when she's on the balcony talking about how much they all need each other, her accent almost hits a soft irish note, very bizarre.

I hope some day someone will ask mr Boyle about it (providing that he hopefully will discuss it openly too) because it is too much noticiable that veeery sad performance of her.

Yeah, I asked my wife what accent she was going for, because it definitely didn't sound natural. To be fair to her, I did hear Brendan Gleeson's Irish slip through a couple of times. But maybe that's because he was delivering a line right after she did and my mind was adjusting.

Oh man, she's painfully bad. I wondered how such brilliant actors like Brendan Gleeson and Christopher Eccleston could take her seriously or even keep a straight face when on screen with her. Was her mum or dad in the crew, or something? Surely she didn't get through an audition for that part? I also couldn't work out her accent - it seemed very exaggerated and unnatural, possibly Brummy but occasionally bordering on Australian.

I particularly like the bit at the end where Jim says 'wait, are you high?' to her. Couldn't help but think - how can you tell, Jim? She sounds just as zoned out as always

In the finale she would have been required to show some extreme emotions which was beyond her acting abilities. So they make the excuse 'Oh she's been drugged.' Pretty lame. She ruined the whole film.

You're not the only one. I always think it when I watch this film. I know she was only young and probably inexperienced but I found it very cringeworthy.

Even if I think you could have kept your temper while writing your review, I must agree (in milder and more politically correct terms) that the actress playing Hannah does impact the movie negatively.
No wonder she did not have any more roles after this one that she should not even have got at the beginning, for the sake of this movie.
