Does everyone put this film down? Okay, granted it is not the greatest film in the world but I really enjoyed it. The scenery alone is fabulous - I wish I was swept away on an island with a hot Italian man like Pepe! Call it my sick sense but he could slap me around any time. And with her bitchiness, she needed some discipline to bring her down to reality. It worked right?
The ending is sad but I kinda think if she truly loved him, she would have done anything to be with him. Was she scared of her husband or something? To me, she just seemed like a possession to him. Did he love her - no. Pepe showed her true love and she did admit she was scared but she must have been really scared to just let him go like that. I think that is what makes me cry all the time - the fact that she could not just let go and be true to herself.

It was poorly directed and of course had Madonna starring in it. She can't act and that's what ruined the movie as well.

I totally loved this movie. I know it got horrible reviews, but I thought the story was interesting, it has hilarious moments, and the endingperfect. I have yet to watch the original, but I still love this version. I think people focused too negatively on Madonnashe's not a terrible actress. I don't judge a movie by the actors in the film otherwise I would miss out on too much.

I have a copy and it's in Italian language, and is very boring at the beginning. It drones on about things that are irrelevant today. Guy Ritchie spiced it up and made it into a cute little love story gone awry. I like it better than the original and I don't care what Wertmuller was trying to say.

Well I have never seen the original film. Having said that, I will obtain a copy and watch it to make comparisons. I always knew there was an original film but have been unable to find a copy to purchase.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me it's just a big problem that the movie got made at all. The original still retains all of its power and energy. A remake like this is not only a waste of time, talent, and money, but it also serves to diminish the original, as though it's become obsolete or something. For me, the question is "Why does a perfectly good movie have to be "updated" at all?"
