So I'm nearly 15 years behind but I have to add to the discussion. There are reasons either character can be either "Philia" or "Blue Cat." We can debate it all day but there are a few glaring discrepancies that allow for the argument either way. I agree with the consensus that Hoshino is blue cat but I have read all over the internet and have not seen any mention the BIGGEST twist.
At the end, Hoshino, notices Yuichi and goes to him, giving him the apple with writing on it and telling him to give it to someone. No one comes. When Yuichi approaches the drink stand, to his left, a man is carrying a bear (hence it is likely bear) and a girl approaches his right and stares at the apple (probably just someone else from the website). When Hoshino comes out of the concert, Yuichi gives him his apple back. When Yuichi kills Hoshino, the apple falls to the floor. It sits there for a few seconds, until the camera rolls away from it!! No one has mentioned this. We see Yuichi running and when he stops he pulls the knife out of an apple! The apple appears to have no writing on it. It seems to me that they both brought an apple. Someone please explain this if you noticed. You can also pull the scene off youtube.

Well, no. We can't debate at all. During the movie is astonishingly clear that Blue Cat is Hoshino and Philia is Yuichi. Watch it with more attention, pal.

Yeah I noticed it too. But consider this: anyone that writes on that forum could also bring a green apple. It was an public forum, therefore anyone can see the exchanges between blue_cat and Phillia.
