This has to be one of the stupidiest migraine-inducing catchphrases the gun-conservatives spout to pretend like laws do nothing to prevent crimes.
It implies that laws are simply for show, and that breaking them is as simple as disregarded them.
That’s not true. Many laws are very inconvenient to break. People don’t not break the law out of the kindness of their hearts, people don’t break the law because it really sucks getting caught breaking the law and people don’t want to risk the consequences for it. People don’t follow the law “just because” they’re faithfully patriotic to laws.
If mass shootings weren’t illegal, everyone would be mass shooting.
