On the DVD commentary, one of the commentators, I believe the Director, says that he has been asked about that jacket and where they got it. I can't remember if they said where, but they do talk about the jacket briefly in the dvd commentary.

I would pay a lot of money for that jacket.

Sorry, I must have the characters mixed up. I've not seen this for a long time. I think the football jock guy you refer to is the character of Scott that attends Yale.

I thought the main football/jock guy was at the Yale university

It's been a while since I saw this movie. But as the best I can remember, CJ was attending Yale university in New Haven and that was the letter jacket he was wearing.
I don't know how you would obtain one other than attending Yale or finding a used one somewhere, perhaps eBay.
