Since when is Kaufman a genius? He hacked, coughed up, and pooped out RISING SUN.

I couldn't agree more. I thought it might be a different Philip Kaufman. This a different genre of film for him, but it's such a disaster on every level.

It's not as bad as people say it is. It's a good rental and a watchable piece of fluff. Think about it as an Ashley Judd thriller rather than a Philip Kaufman film and then you won't be as disappointed.

This film is genuienly atrocious. Extraordinary that the man responsible for 'Quills' and 'Henry & June' made this nasty trash.
It's smiliar to someone like Jim Jarmuch deciding to direct 'Date Movie'.
You have to question what he was thinking when he took on the project. The film has so little artistic merit.
Maybe for the money? I could understand that.
From Quills to Twisted. It's really mind bending.
Do yourself a favour and stay away from the film if you liked his other works.
They might be ruined for you. Then again Twisted could be fun if you're into B-grade Ashley Judd crime-thrillers, or just looking for a laugh.
This isn't Noir by the by. It doesn't deserve such a label. Try bargin-basement-bullsh*t, and your closer to the money.

I've often wondered how Kaufman would do with film noir and I'll be seeing this one just for my own edification.
