I also should have mentioned that the Afghan Marxist government had women in positions of power and took progressive steps to separate state and mosque.

There was a Marxist government in Afghanistan from 1978 to 1989. The U.S. toppled that government and put the Taliban in power. Now we regret our meddling and we are embroiled in a never ending war. The Soviets were right and we were wrong. We never learn. We created chaos in Iraq as well when we overthrew Saddam Hussein. America needs to stay out of the Middle East and Asia.

Can't even really say it's a war. It's really a police action. I believe the longest official war the US ever participated in was the American Revolution at 8 years.
And, even if we're counting police actions, the Korean War has the War in Afghanistan beat by roughly 50 years. The peace treaty was never officially signed, when everyone says the "war" ended in 1953, even if they did sign an armistice.
Honestly though, we'll never completely leave Afghanistan. This is a fight we'll be in until the end of time. Nothing short of wiping out an entire ideology will fix this.
Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one.

we could evac tomorrow but in short time wed be back because the government would give diplomatic cover to terrorists who would then target us and western assets in asia and europe.in a perfect universe no rational person gives a damn about this part of the wotld.but since islam has perverted these people we must be involved. bush sent in forces only because taliban had given alquada safe haven and official sovereign protection. the usa was absolutely justified under customary international law to target the afghan government. only prob is that bush didnt want bad things written about him on editorial pages so he quarter-assed his way into the quicksand we now in and gonna be in forever.
only solution is to nuke the country and make it a radioactive warning sign for terrorists and those who enable them.

Before we went in they had a civil war all during the 90s and before that they fought the Soviets all during the 80s. Afghanistan has seen near constant warfare for almost forty years. What would winning look like? A stable government and the defeat of the Taliban? The Taliban was the only stable government they had known for decades. The earliest the war will end is when the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline is finished.
