If a server wants a good tip from me:

  1. The server better greet me with a warm welcome.
  2. I better not wait more than 5 minutes to place my order.
  3. Get my order right when taking it. I hate to repeat myself.
  4. Get our drinks right away. I am in no mood to wait.
  5. Check up on us every so often and top off our drinks.
  6. Make our table a priority no matter what.
  7. Do not spill anything on me or my guests.
  8. Before bringing the food to our table, verify that each one is right. If I have to send a plate back, I am docking off the tip and asking the manager for a discount on that plate.
  9. Bring the check right after we are done eating. DO NOT BRING IT WHEN WE ARE STILL EATING.
  10. Use proper English. I do not want to deal with a server that lacks in English.
  11. SMILE!
  12. Don't ask if I need anything else. If I did not request anything, leave me ALONE.
  13. KNOW YOUR JOB! I can't and will not deal with incompetence.
    If you can do all of that, we shouldn't have a problem.

Actually they are extremely arrogant. Unless you are their only table, they can't make your table a priority and they certainly can't do other things on your list if they are busy.

My demands are not that hard to meet. I am a very generous tipper so long as the waiter gets it right. They will at least get a $1 from me. That is the bare minimum. One should be grateful that they are getting a minimum tip of a $1.
