I actually thought recently that I really wouldn't go to an all you can eat buffet by choice. I'd rather just eat a small meal.
At places I do go where I'm waited on, my meal doesn't usually cost more than $10, so I just tip a couple bucks.
What we see and what we seem are but a dream. A dream within a dream.

As with any restaurant, always depends on the wait staff.
Buffet? Come by once, twice at most to refill some water, don't say anything, no eye contact, etc? 5%. Come by a few times, draw up some dialogue, smile, and ask if we got questions? We're going way north.
I usually very rarely tip below 15%. That said, I was a waiter growing up in a small town where I had mostly older cheap people come in to dine. I know when a waiter is working hard, and often times if someone offers to pay for the meal I make sure (through glancing or outright saying "I got the tip.") that the waiter is treated right.
I also know when a waiter is mailing it in, and will treat them accordingly. For those of you that are going, "YAH MAN!" trust me a waiter is trying WAY harder than you think 90% of the time those guys are busting their butts. It's not their fault your food is getting delayed, some little brats next to you are screaming, the food is sub par, or your water wasn't topped off every 1 minute.
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW until you're a waiter. You know how parents always use that dumb line, "When you have kids?" Well yah. I know what kids are like. Oh trust me I got that one. That's why I don't want em. You wont know what being a waiter is like till you do that.

If it's Jimmy, a healthy tip is customary.
For his adopted son, I think a buck or two would suffice.

I think it's funny that you can be on a board for this movie, then act like a buffet is just so much worse and how below you it would be to eat such disgusting food with disgusting people. Cooks could never sneeze or anything else on your food, right?
Desperate enough, hah. Get over yourself.

If I am ever desperate enough to go to a buffet, I'll let you know. It's been a looong time and I intend on keeping it that way.

I generally don't tip at buffets because the ones I go to are ones where I get my own drink. If I am at one that has someone getting you your drink I have no problem tipping a buck or two.

We usually give $1.00-2.00 per person that is eating. Usually at buffets, the tips are pooled, so everyone gets a share.

And that why no one liked you on Little House. So snotty. You made Nellie almost likeable in comparison.
