I wonder if HBO will give David M production rights like a tv show for the movie cause i was rewatching his episode of dinner for five and he said back then he doesnt want to work on movies because they alter too much. Id love to see the movie if it gets made but im not holding my breath. I think the show ended at a good point.

He's still writing it though, isn't he? I haven't heard anything about it not happening or any new news since Kim Dickens said Milch showed her some pages which were very good.
HBO still has GOT for another year, so that's something (in terms of ratings/critical acclaim). Also, Westworld, Veep, Silicon Valley, Girls, The Young Pope, Last Week Tonight, and The Leftovers are all pretty praised (though a few of those will be gone in a year or less, as well).
But yeah, I certainly agree that HBO is at the weakest it's been since maybe 2008-2010 their miniseries lately have been better than their series. The last truly great series HBO had was Luck. And the last truly great lineup they had was back in the mid-2000s most likely.
A Deadwood movie would be a big draw though (especially if it was a multi-part thing; a miniseries?). I think that's one of the best things they can put on right now to help save their reputation. Hopefully the upcoming David Simon show will deliver also, and maybe Nic Pizzolatto can even pull another good season out of his ass.

Well we can say that HBO is in trouble and is bleeding subscribers as there's nothing of any real quality to watch. But they don't seem to realize that they can't just snap fingers and make quality programming appear.
I wouldn't blame Milch if he just told them to fork off.
