Racism was coded into the Constitution. In America, there used to just be poor and rich. The poor included indentured servants and slaves, both of which where white and black. But there were too many revolts, the most famous being Bacon's Rebellion. Those in power wanted to divide the low class and did it with race. Only black people could be slaves, only black slaves could be whipped, black slaves's children were automatically slaves. White indentured servants were given a little more status and let it go to there head. It's like poor white Republicans now. They identify with rich white people because they don't want to identify with poor black people when in fact economically they should identify with poor black people.
Race is a social construct but racism is real.

Racism doesn't even exist, I know you guys heard the saying, there's only one race, the human race.
Race was made up to divide ppl even further. Back in ancient times it didn't matter if ur skin was pale as snow or black as night. If you were Greek you were GREEK, not black or white. If you were Roman you were ROMAN.
I don't understand society today and how this whole "race" thing took off.
Now I'm not saying discrimination doesn't happen, because I've been discriminated against five times before I was ever done writing this, lol, but I'm saying that ppl like the OP make problems out of NOTHING.

Yeah, I was never much of a Mencia fan myself. It seemed like he thought just the basic idea of racial sterotypes was shocking enough to be humorous like just throwing out an "Asians can't drive" joke is automatically going to be funny. The thing that makes Dave's stuff work is that he seems to understand how ridiculous a lot of it is. I mean, to me, his sketches succeed because he's observing the absurdity of that way of thinking. I think one of the better examples is the sketch with John Maher about how different races respond to music. It's brilliant.

Maybe you are thinking of Mencia? Chapelle was a brilliant satirist, there was a reason he was offered a 50 million dollar contract and Time magazine as well as CNN were obsessed with him. Obviously you don't comprehend his humour.
