I just watched this film for this first time, and I'm surprised Viktor didn't "Get the girl".
I really expected Amelia to go with him to the hotel in the taxi. Then when she didn't I expected her to be waiting for him afterwards. But no, we don't see her after she goes into the airport as Viktor is leaving.
Did anyone else think this was unusual? Especially as this film was unashamedly sentimental and not particularly worried about realism.

There was something very bittersweet about the way the film ended. It resonated with me in a way I don't think would have been possible if Viktor had ended up with Amelia. I thought they would have ended up together as well but Spielberg did a 180 turn and gave us the opposite. Well played.
