Raymond Shaw's ex-girlfriend (daughter of the senator played by Jon Voight) was an important character in the original film, but in this hapless remake, she does not even appear among the many cast members listed on this imdb page.
The character does appear in the newer film, albeit briefly, and I thought I recognized the actress but wasn't sure. I'm here because I tried to look her up,

It's 18 months later, but she's (Vera Farmiga) listed. Just waaaaaaay down. Either she was a late addition or you didn't scroll down far enough the first time.

It's Vera Farmiga.
She's famous since "The Departed".
You're right, she was a central character in the original and it should have stayed that way.
She was the emotional center.
Now we don't care if he kills her suddenly.
This movie is a misfire.

So, what's the deal? Did the actress decide she'd rather not be associated with this turkey, and consequently refuse to let her name be used? Seems plausible to me
