A great remake and adaptation from a book. What else could be expected from the director of Silence of the Lambs

Yeah Manius,
But didn't you write that godfather 1 and Godfather 2 were overrated?
Yeah I think I can safely ignore your cinematic evaluations.
Cheers

Amaris, you hit the nail on the head. The amazing cast really kept this movie going and it's why I rated it pretty high.Loved the CAST!
I saw the original movie (with Sinatra) many years ago and found it fascinating. Then after I saw
this
version, I watched the original again. I liked both for different reasons. The original was so different, for the Era in which it was written. And the new version was interesting because the writer changed so many of the scenes and details to fit into today's times!
Loved to see the contrasts.

@maniuis. I give the majority of the credit to the actors and actresses.Especially Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep.I have a feeling if these two(Denzel & Meryl) weren't in the movie I probably wouldn't rate this movie extremely high(9).I really enjoyed both of their performances.Obviously I will give the director credit too. It's just their performances helped out big time in keeping me interested through out the entire movie. If Denzel wasn't in a scene doing a great job. Then Meryl would be doing a great job. This movie has my favorite actress(Meryl Streep) and one of my favorite actors(Denzel Washington). So for me they made the movie.

Pfffft. Demme has made some good films, but this pales in comparison to the original.
