I just finished the book, too, and then finally watched the film. The book is the single best novel I have ever read in my entire life, which says a lot since I teach English and majored in literature. And the film is one of the top ten best films I've ever seen.
I haven't read any of Heim's other work, but I doubt he could ever create something as magical as Mysterious Skin again.
