This is one of the most overrated movies that I have ever seen.
I was expecting some mind blowing film that was not blessed with a hollywood budget, but all I got was some movie about two people splashing in the water that looked like it was filmed on someone's home camera.
As a horror film, it is very poor. The most violent thing on screen was the shark being cut open at the end. There is actually very little horror in this film. It's all terror. Which is fine, but it was all poorly put together.
Even the story is anticlimactic. Towards the end we see the rescue boats search for them, which killed the suspense. I would have rather had it so that we don't see anyone, and that would make the ending where she gives up even more despondent.
Maybe I lack the sympathy to appreciate this film, or horror films in general, but it just fell flat for me. It's not a "guilty pleasure" or some "classic." It's a snooze fest that looks cheap to boot.

This movie is actually underrated given its 5.4 score. Sorry you pinheads can't tell the difference.

Yeah I didn't think much of it. I get why some people appreciate itbut it's sort of bare bones.
I am by no means a summer blockbuster whore, but it does hurt when the way you've filmed a movie looks this cheap.
While I understand that it's simplicity is part of what the horror is supposed to beit really doesn't take much thought to make this movie.
"So we'll have them go diving, then they get left, then they fight, then we have some attacks, then the end."
The only real kind of any story they made was the role reversal with the male and female as to who was freaking out and who was keeping the other together. It's not a shock that the script took so short to make because there really wasn't anything thought provoking here other than the fact that you hope your boat isn't as incompetent when you go scuba.
The ending was about the only thing I did appreciate.
To be honest, there are stories like this on the show I Shouldn't Be Alive that are done in a much better manner.
