I've noticed over the years that in some war memoirs and movies there's a penchant for the author/director use nicknames almost exclusively, and they seem to be all Marine stories, which is sort of strange given how rank conscious they are. The Walking Dead: A Marine's Story of Vietnam, Generation Kill, this movie, and many of Bing West's books come to mind.</p>
