<p dir="auto">I have the DVD, and I don't recall any deleted scene where it is featured or mentioned, nor on the commentary track.  I mean, we don't exactly<br />
need<br />
an establishing shot of him sending out a letter, but I did wonder where it was coming from at the time.<br />
It makes more sense taken in consideration with him checking his empty mailbox prior to finding the message Maya left on his machine.  His book deal was dead, so it had to be he was waiting for word from her.<br />
