<p dir="auto">I suspect that today a writer would be separated by Plexiglas and talking to the prisoner by phone - in the unlikely event he could even get the prison authorities to give him extensive access to a prisoner on death row.<br />
Did Capote really get to spend all that time "unchaperoned" with Perry in his cell?</p>

<p dir="auto">i wondered that too. i don't think they were allowed to be that close, and it seemed no one was watching them. at times i thought i'd witness a romantic scene since they were so close and unchecked.</p>
