It would be too far of a stretch for him to do anything dishonest. The movie maintains he is a good guy with bad priorities. The worst things he does are kick Bill in the junk and pull his pants down, slap his boss and fart on him, and run over Kevins toy, frame him for smoking, and let him get hit in the head for the ball- okay maybe he went too far with little O Doyle but those people all wronged him or his family. Stealing from innocents is too far for him.

Or he could he could simply rob a casino or bank with a mask on !

It seemed the point of the movie was that he was a good guy that made the mistake of putting work before his family. That is why he tried to use it to move past the arguments, foreplay, being sick and once in a while small revenge points. If he was a thief it would change the type of character he was.

Or if he's feeling violent, he could play poker, pause, then punch everybody in the head until they can't concentrate anymore.
