<p dir="auto">Sorry, Spielberg. I generally like your stuff but this movie was way off the mark.<br />
I've seen the orignal with Gene Barry and even after all these decades it's still superior to this dreck.<br />
While I appreciate the homage to the illustrations of some of the original pulp copies of War of the Worlds, in general this movie just sucked.<br />
I hated the characters, the plot, even the special effects.<br />
It was just awful. Not Gigli awful but awful just the same.<br />
And pointless.<br />
I wanted to slap the son. I wanted to slap the Dad. The stupidity. The coincidences.<br />
What a waste of time, money and celluloid. (Yeah, I know they don't use celluloid any more but you get the point.)</p>
