There will be a gathering of Svengoolie fans on August 12-14, 2016, in Metropolis, Illinois. Called The Big Blogcast, this event is 200% fan driven; put together by people that regularly post to the blog on the Svengoolie website (Svengoolie.com). It is not sponsored or sanctioned by Svengoolie or MeTV. Svengoolie is not scheduled to appear.
There is a webpage promoting the event at http://tunabay.com/bigblogcast/event.html. This is a first time event. There is no registration fee or charge for events, beyond regular admission cost to area attractions. None of the folks putting this together are getting any money from this event. They're paying their own way just like everyone else.
There will be games (some of which we're making up) including chicken throwing contest, parody song sing-a-longs, trips to area attractions (Superman statue, Super Museum, Americana Hollywood Museum), and a Saturday night viewing party.
This is sort of how the Star Trek conventions got started. So if you like the Svengoolie program, want to meet new people from all walks of life from all across the country, and have an adventurer some spirit, check out our webpage and consider joining us.
