In the Sixties, Cleveland's then-CBS (now Fox) affiliate (WJW Channel had a Friday night "creature feature" called SHOCK THEATER (aka GHOULARDI). The title character (Ernie Anderson) would show Godzilla trampling Tokyo to Polish polka music, and had a running joke about the mostly Polish suburb of Parma. One of Ernie's producers occasionally appeared on-air, was spotted by a scout, and lured to Hollywood for a role in McHALE'S NAVY (Tim Conway). Ernie followed Tim to LA, and became the announcer for Carol Burnett. Sven even uses some of Ghoulardi's voice-and sound effects. Just giving credit where credit is due.

There were horror hosts before Ghoulardi was on the air if you
REALLY
want to give credit where it's due.
"There will be blood. Oh, yes, there
WILL
be blood."-Jigsaw; "Saw II"

In Oct 1957, SHOCK THEATER, put out by Universal Studios, came into being. I know. This was then sent to the local broadcasting networks who had their OWN late night hosts. I remember watching Gregory Graves (Sgt. Harvey Brunswick) on our own local TV 9.

All true. Most folks from Cleveland remember this but the memory is fading as the population ages. I recall him blowing up plastic models, dolls, etc with firecrackers on the air. "COOL IT WITH THE BOOM BOOMS" - a favorite tagline.
Hey group, turn blue many more. Ernie did the voice over for the early Love Boat episodes also.
You Tube had some partial episodes and some archival stuff on FOX 8 (the old WJW).
