Well that was quite a great episode. I really don't think an episode as silly could've been handled better than it was. It's a great love letter to comic books and superheroes and it never looks down on the genre but it also doesn't shy away from poking fun at it, but it's all done with a lot of love and respect.
The Capaldi-era staple of great side characters that I'd love to see more of continued here which was great as this episode wouldn't really have worked if it weren't for these characters and the actors behind them. While I appreciate Nardole right now and he was used very well in the episode, I hope they dive in more to his character in Series 10 instead of
just
continuing using him like this. What I like though is that he is a very different companion to what we've gotten used to in the modern series and judging from the trailer it looks like he could work with Bill very well.
Fun episode, great characters, some very wonderfully human scenes (something I'd like to see more of in actual superhero movies) and a great possible tease for the next series add up to yet another surprisingly strong christmas special for me.
8/10

7/10 i.m.o, perfectly enjoyable and very funny in spots but a weak storyline.
One of the more enjoyable Xmas specials.

Personally yes I'd absolutely watch this story over others depending on what mood I'm in.

Did I ever say that I'd rather watch this than Genesis or Caves? I said that
all
episodes can't be as good as the
best
episodes
ever
made. Never ever should that mean that someone can't enjoy other episodes as well. Obviously not as much - but it doesn't make
all
the other episodes bad and not entertaining.

Are you saying that every episode has to be as pitch perfect as Genesis of the Daleks and the Caves of Androzani for you to enjoy it? That's
quite
the standard you've set for yourself.

Are you saying that you'd rather watch episodes with boring characters you couldn't care less about? Because that's what Doctor Who and science fiction is all about!
I remember when I watched Alien, The Martian, Jurassic Park, E.T., The Terminator, Ex Machina, Back To the Future - and totally didn't care about any of the characters! That's what I want in my science fiction!

if I cared about 'human scenes' I'd watch EastEnders, Doctor Who is a sci-fi, and Moffat's style of writing is starting to neglect that completely.
