Do you think Ronnie looked old? I never guessed he was much older than 21 or so. Alison Lohman was like his age, when she was playing a 16 year old in Flicka.
As long as it's believable and they don't look too old, actors can be as old as they want. Just when a 60 year old couple in a movie has 7 year old - not adopted - kids, it becomes weird

Dawson's Creek, for instance, looked ridiculous with the actors they had playing teenagers. "Ronnie" in this movie didn't look out of place at all, so I don't see any problem.

In my opinion, most asian people look 10 years younger than they actually are. A few years ago, there was this girl who was working at my job. I was 22, I thought she was at most, a couple years older than me, maybe 27. So one day, I go and talk to her. I was in absolute shock when I found out she was 42 (!!!) and had a 13 year old son! She had the face, body, and voice of a 20-something year old.

You hate it huh? Well, he's a good actor, played his part well, made me beleive he was late teens. Obviously I knew he wasn't 16 or 17, but if I saw him walking through high school when I was there I would have thought he was a new student, at least his character in the movie anyways. He easily looks like young 20s or late teens, and I think he fit the part great.
So what's so bad about that?

come on, it wasnt THAT bad, i mean, the guy is pretty young looking. at the time, i wouldnt have pegged him for late 20's. i woulda said late teens, or early 20's at the most.
and if you hadn't said that he's pushing 30 I wouldn't have known he is 30. He has a young looking!

He's pretty young looking for his age then. I thought he was early 20s at least.

I think he did a pretty good nevertheless. Ronnie is one of my favorite characters in this movie; he is just plain hilarious. xD

Who cares how old he really was? He could very well have passed for a teen, I certainly didn't think he looked too old. If anyone looked way too mature for her part it was Sarah Roemer (the hot chick).

Speaking of older people always playing young people in horror moviesdid anyone think that one chick in the new Nightmare on Elm Street (I think she was the first one to die) looked like, I dunno30 something? She could have passed for her mom's younger sister and she was supposed to be 18 or so? Whatever.

I thought he was a teenager so obviously the casting director done a very good job.

That's because it is difficult to find decent actors who are in their teens. Most of them are still in acting schools and do not have much experience.
I'm not saying Yoo's acting was any good, but it could be the reason for most other movies/shows that you're talking about.

I agree. They get especially bad about this in horror movies. There's always some 35 year old playing a highschool student.
