I think fighting the MPAA or proving it's got too much power is useless. What they should be doing is destroying the MPAA's power - get to the reasons why NC-17 movies can't be advertised on tv, or distributed, or whatever it is that the stigma of NC-17 causes.
Once you've killed their power, they won't matter.
And I think it's wrong to imply that censorship against violence is preferable to censorship over sex. It's certainly a double standard, but again it's the wrong approach because the hypocrisy really doesn't matter. It's the power of censors over an industry that is truly objectionable.
And then I finished the movie and realized that the people who give NC17 it's power sit on the board of appeals with the MPAA. So much for that!
What an absolute crock the MPAA is.
