It's been 10yrs now since its release, & it now looks & feels truly like a 90's film, as if made in 97 & not 07.
It doesn't hurt having Vedder's music, Hirsch's look (hairstyle, facial, clothing, etc) & attitude, + Penn's pared down direction.
I think it better ties in with the 1990's better than many films actually produced during that decade proper.
